Thank you families for coming to student-led conferences. This is one of my favorite days of the entire school year. I love watching the students shine as they share their learning with you. I am a very proud teacher!
We learned that spiders make silk thread from spinnerets. The silk is strong and sticky. Some spiders make a web with their silk thread. They use the web to catch their food. After reading Eric Carle’s “The Very Busy Spider,” I made a web. I put on a spider catching some food. On Tuesday, March 22nd, all of GWA Elementary will be holding their yearly Student-Led Conferences. This is your child’s opportunity to lead you through their educational journey. The students will be sharing their experiences with you to model and explain what they have been learning throughout this year. This experience is your child’s day and it is not meant for parent-teacher interviews or conferences. Sharing their educational journey can be done in their home language, and gives students opportunities show evidence of learning through classroom activities and portfolios. Student-led conferences also involve visiting different learning spaces around the school (Music, PE, ICT, Library, Swimming and Art). More information is in the Thursday Newsletter, including how and when to sign up (which will be open on Tuesday, March 8th from https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/GEMS_World_Academy_Dubai_Elementary). On student-led conference day, students are expected to wear their school uniform and will only be at school for their conference and learning tour, after which they will return back home.
