We celebrated the 45th UAE National Day and visited the courtyard souk where we learned more about UAE culture, traditions and food. We know all about the colors of the UAE flag and are learning the 7 different emirates. Next week, we will begin our new unit of inquiry entitled How the World Works: Waterworks. The central idea behind this unit is “Water as an important resource”. We will be focusing on the following lines of inquiry: 1) what water is and its uses 2) the behavior of water 3) using water responsibly Throughout the course of the unit your child will be engaged in a variety of hands-on experiments that will support different developmental skills and concepts including, fine motor, scientific vocabulary, communication skills, and research skills, just to name a few.We appreciate your assistance and support in your child’s education by encouraging discussions or conversations about this unit if they arise at home.
We have been learning our letters and the sounds they make. We celebrated getting from letter Aa to letter Zz by throwing an alphabet party. Each of us decorated a letter with something that began with that sound. We also made coconut trees with our names on them. For snack we all ate chocolate biscuits in the shape of the all the letters. We celebrated all the wonderful places from around the world that we come from. Our KG1-KM family is from Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, England, France, India, Italy, Lebanon, Netherlands, Philippines, Portugal, South Korea, Sweden, Syria, and the United States of America. |
