Dear Parents,
Next week we will be starting our final unit of inquiry entitled “How We Express Ourselves - Tell me a Story”. The central idea behind this unit is: People from around the world create and pass on stories in a variety of ways. We will be focusing on the following lines of inquiry:
Some of the questions related to the unit are:
1. How do we tell stories?
2. Why do we tell stories?
3. Who tells stories?
4. How can we tell stories without books?
5. How can we learn more about other cultures through their stories?
We will explore story telling through the following methods: orally, books, song and movement, pictures, and puppets. Throughout the course of the unit your child will be engaged in a variety of hands-on activities that will support different developmental skills and concepts including, fine motor, vocabulary building, and communication skills, just to name a few. We appreciate your assistance and support in your child’s education by encouraging discussions or conversations about this unit if they arise outside of school. If you have any stories at home from your culture and would like to share them with the class, please feel free to bring them in. We are also looking for parent volunteers to come into the class and tell us a story from their culture.
Please find the curriculum map attached above
Kind Regards,
Ms.Joyce
